How to make a wireless phone charger
INTRODUCTION
The wireless phone charger has been into the market for many years,it works based on wireless power transfer by electromagnetic waves generated in a transmitter coil and received at the reciever coil to power a load.
Wireless electricity transmission was first demonstrated by Nikola Tesla in 1890s by passing high frequency alternating current through a primary coil, electromagnetic waves are produced which spreads towards a thousand turns of a secondary coil and inturn produces wireless power which can light a neon bulb without wires,see more at Tesla coil.
MATERIALS FOR MAKING A WIRELESS PHONE CHARGER
1.enameld copper wire
2.2N2222A NPN transistor
3.220 ohms resistor
4.100uF 25v capacitor
5.9v to 12v DC voltage source.
6.1N4007 diode.
The wireless charger consists of two parts:
The transmitter: is used to produce wireless electricity by the help of the 3 pins transistors and a coil by connecting to the 9v or 12v DC power source.
The reciever:is used to receive or capture the wireless electricity from the transmitter with the help of the coil.It consists of a diode for producing or filtering DC from AC while the capacitor is serves as line filtering and current regulator,the reciever coil is connected to a USB cable and placed inside the case of the phone.
STEPS
#Making the transmitter coil:
Make 30 turns of flat cake bifilar coil as shown below and connect E,B,C pins of the 2N2222A transistor to the coil along with the 220 ohms resistor.
#Making the reciever coil:make 30 turns of biffilar coil and connect the ends with the diode and capacitor.
CASING:There are many available options for making your casing,you can make a plastic case by using a 3d printer,here are some examples
but if you can't afford buying a 3d printer you can make it yourself from two creams covers.or from cardboard below
WORKING PRINCIPLE
The simple wireless phone charger works on electromagnetic induction,the 2N2222A transistor switches on and off the DC current rapidly which inturn produces varying growing and dying of electromagnetic field around the coil.When a reciever coil of the same number of turns and size is placed near it Electric current is induced into it and can be used to charge a phone.
